First some general information:
NPC squadrons, respawn, NPC ignored elements
- NPC ships can fly on their own (rare) or in an NPC squadron of 3 to 4 ships (the most common)
- NPC ships in an NPC squadron start their respawn countdown only once the last living member of that squadron is dead
- General NPC ship respawn time is 15 seconds (unless said otherwise for a specific NPC)
- If there is at least 1 aggressive NPC ship in an NPC squadron, then the whole squadron becomes aggressive
- NPC ships in the same NPC squadron share the same respawn coordinates, which are randomly calculated at each server restart
- NPC squadrons are randomly formed at each server restart, but each NPC squadron can only have ships of the same NPC faction
- NPC ships can be all (unless said otherwise for a specific NPC) instantly respawned if the last player in the same system as the NPC leaves that system
- Each NPC ship belongs to an NPC faction, some of them are friendly toward the players -> such allied NPC ships cannot be damaged by the player and they are always marked on the radar with the green colour
- Each NPC ship has 5 levels of difficulty (novice, normal, boss, elite and raid)
As of 18/01/2023, the Raid level is currently not available in the game yet. Raid level NPCs are going to be part of special events and not housed in any star system by default.
- NPC ships never stop flying (while alive...)
- The leader of each NPC squadron flies at half its max speed while out of combat and all squadron members adjust their speed to keep formation
- All NPCs are bound to their systems and cannot get close to the system borders
- NPC ships ignore solar damage
- NPC ships ignore player-made space stations
