Hello everyone,
First update after the initial open alpha release is here. New v0.2.5 brings a lot of new features, adjustments and fixes. See the final patch notes below:
- NEW FEATURES:
+ Game title screen now shows the game version installed
+ added new checkbox in the game settings window in the General tab to dis/en-able targeting popup window
+ added new chat command '/players' which returns the amount of currently online players
+ added new battle alarm to space stations -> every time the station loses 1000 HP, a warning message is sent to all currently active faction members, specifying the name of the station, the system the station is in and the info on how many thousands of HP are left
+ added new in-game remember login credentials option -> new JSON file will be created in the Documents/WoTU directory of your PC with stored accounts. This file contains login name and hashed password (no plain text password ever leaves the game for security reasons, so the password is unreadable for any other users).
+ added new orangle colour to the radar for ship icons and nameplates to indicate squadron members
- UPGRADES:
+ Game map loading mechanism simplified -> the game is now loading less data upon entering the game / entering new system, resulting in a faster and proper game map loading. This change also ensures that no duplicate objects are created as it is possible to quickly move to another system and back. Originally, all border systems were loaded along the current system, but now only the current system is loaded and the border system is loaded only once the player gets too close to it and such system keeps being loaded until that system is no longer a current / border system. Further performance updates are planned as sometimes the screen freezes for a brief moment upon loading new border system.
+ Radar colours changed -> originally, faction members had green radar dot and green nameplate while allies had blue nameplates and blue radar dots. These colours were now swapped so that allies are green and faction members blue.
+ Placeholder button for colonising a planet is now hidden to not confuse the players with yet not available feature
+ changed access to the station spawners -> now only factions are able to build space stations. Additionally, the player has to have the 8th right "Station master" assigned to his rank.
+ ship radar rework -> the code was simplified, which might result in fixing the game crashing issue (although its root cause still remains a mystery to me as this never happens in the development environment)
+ ship/station wreck rework -> the wreck code was simplified, which might result in fixing the game crashing issue
+ changed radar icons for medium and big ships -> new icons shape added to make them easier to spot on the radar
+ NPC nameplates are now in red colour
- BALANCING:
+ cheaper space stations (Courons price down)
+ raised player made space stations max HP
- FIXES:
+ station settings -> policy update fix (there was a typo making updating the policies impossible)
+ fixed thrusters -> a bug occurred after flying and stopping still in open space, the ship thrusters stayed visible, now they are correctly hidden once the player ship stops in the open space
+ fixed ship Ant -> missing weapon scripts were causing issues with this small ship and for other players around the player with this ship
+ faction warehouse fix -> moving the items inside faction warehouse didn't immediately update for other players
+ station shop fix -> sometimes the station refused to sell / buy items even when the station had enough item amount or Courons and saying that the station doesn't have enough Courons to pay.
+ localisation bug fix -> transaction popup when buying / selling items was unable to show Czech special characters in the item name
? network updates for asteroids - sometimes the asteroids are visible but cannot be shot, sometimes they are invisible
? ghost NPC's - visible thruster flames, but invisible NPC
PS: Fixes prefixed with the question mark "?" are hard to test in the development environment and might not be fully resolved yet.
Regards,
Lukas Tokar
